Pianist Andrew Rangell has been making CDs for many years.  His first recordings were made for Dorian Records, and include Bach’s Goldberg Variations and six Partitas; all the late Beethoven sonatas and Diabelli Variations; the complete Chopin Mazurkas; and two volumes of Intimate Works for Piano which feature a diverse range of selections from Bach to Messiaen.  On the Bridge label, his recordings include Bach’s French Suites and Well-tempered Clavier – Book 1; one CD each of Beethoven and Haydn sonatas; Schubert’s glorious Sonata in B-flat; an extraordinary CD of five sonatas by Halffter, Enescu, Stravinsky, and Janácek… his list of recordings goes on and on.

Andy’s gifts are not limited to the piano, however; he recently produced DVDs of two short films that he wrote, directed, and illustrated himself: Sammy Snake’s Lucky Day and What Sal Heard.  Both films were written for the young at heart – of whatever age – and were designed to serve as a primer of classical piano music, with fragments selected from a wide range of wonderful and important pieces from the piano repertoire.  Thus, they were meant to instruct as well as entertain.
